St Mary's Nettlecombe, Somerset
A major project with many phases over a period of ten years, the conservation and re-presentation of the Raleigh effigies in Nettlecombe church was completed in 2022. To address historic and persistent problems of damp penetration, unsuitable location and poor quality past repairs, the effigies were lifted, cleaned and repaired and isolated. Sir John Raleigh was mounted on a new limestone plinth designed by the architect.
