St George’s Church Semington – spirelet repairs.
The spirelet was being destabilised by iron cramps within the structure. The affected areas were carefully dismantled and rebuilt; carefull use of support scaffolding meant that partial dismantling was possible without taking down the whole spire.
We undertake stone cleaning and repair work to architectural elements such as vaulting and stone window tracery. Work may include poultice and steam cleaning, re-pointing, lime mortar repair and stone replacement. We approach these projects from the angle of retaining as much of the original material as possible.
