St Andrew’s Colyton – Popham and Pole monuments in the Pole Chapel. Investigation and analysis of these two large C16th polychromed monuments, to determine the technique and materials of their polychrome and inform measures for the stabilisation of surface layers.
A major part of the conservator’s role is to determine the significance of the object under consideration, its history, materials and techniques, and to establish the extent, cause and rate of any deterioration. McNeilage Conservation are experienced in the preparation of such historical and technical assessments, which inform and direct conservation policy. Ecclesiatical reports conform to the standards required by the Church Buildings Council.
